The McLeod for Tomorrow Leadership Program is built on the strengths of bridging capital. We bring people from different communities and different demographics together to work toward common goals. Bridging is what makes our leadership program both unique and effective.
What is Bridging Capital?
There are two different kinds of social capital – bonding capital and bridging capital. Bridging capital is the nature of relationships between people from diverse backgrounds that don’t share a lot in common. Bridging can be great for working on systemic issues or issues on a broader level because there is a wide range of perspectives, backgrounds and experiences. In contrast, bonding capital is when a close-knit group of people who have similar backgrounds or perspectives comes together.
Bridging In Action at McLeod for Tomorrow
- The Leadership Program is held in a different community in McLeod County each month.
- Program participants tour businesses and organizations across McLeod County, not just one city, location or industry.
- The participants are chosen to ensure a diverse group of leaders from various cities and industries throughout the county.
